Jeremy Duncan Jr. is an intern from Moeller High School. He lives in Anderson Township with his parents and three siblings. Jeremy is a junior and is 16 years old. Currently, Jeremy is taking a class called Nonprofit Practicum, designed to teach students about nonprofits and how they operate. One aspect of this coursework is to have the student intern at a local nonprofit. Jeremy chose Our Daily Bread because he believed in the mission of feeding the less fortunate and trying to better others lives.
Jeremy spends most days with Kids Club, the after-school program, interacting with the kids. He also works with the kitchen staff helping serve the daily meal, and works with the administrative team on different projects and ideas.
So far Jeremy has learned many things from his time at Our Daily Bread. He has learned what it takes to run a successful nonprofit and the inner workings of it. He has also learned how nonprofits like Our Daily Bread impact a community and the value of having them there. This experience has impacted Jeremy’s life in a positive way and he is very grateful for this opportunity.
Jeremy would like to tell his peers that it is okay and honestly beneficial to branch out and volunteer to not only learn new things but to gain experience in the real world and become a more well rounded person.
Jeremy wrote this article with the help of Director of Communications, Jeni Jenkins, in order to learn about writing a blog post and sharing it on social media. The End.
