We invite you to eat in our dining room or get a hot meal at our to-go window. We are located at 1730 Race Street, across from Findlay Market, in Cincinnati, Ohio’s Over the Rhine neighborhood.
DINING ROOM
Come to our doors at the corner of Race Street and Elder Street to join us in the dining room 8:30AM-11:30AM, Monday-Friday. We have limited capacity and some social distancing in place. You are welcome to go through the lunch line and have a seat to eat. Our bathrooms are open as well.
TO-GO MEALS
Come to our to-go window 8:30AM-11:45AM, Monday-Friday on the Race Street side of our building for carry-out coffee or tea, hot to-go meals, as well as snack bags for later that include sandwiches, pastries, fruit, and more.
Our Daily Bread is Cincinnati’s largest soup kitchen, open since 1985. We serve 300+ hot, nutritious, free meals five days a week to neighbors who do not have a safe way to store or cook food for themselves, primarily people experiencing homelessness. Our guests are encouraged to go through the lunch line as many times as they need to get their fill.
We also distribute shelf-stable bagged meals for guests to have something to eat during evenings and weekends. Unlike many other food resources for those in need, guests at Our Daily Bread do not need to show ID or proof of income level or residence to get a hot meal, avoiding common barriers to service.
Our soup kitchen operates with the support of our community- 100% of the food we serve is donated or rescued, sparing thousands of pounds of usable food from landfills each year. We partner with many friends around Cincinnati to bring food through our doors, like bakeries, restaurants, and grocery stores that donate food they are unable to use; individuals who transport rescued food around the tristate; or youth who run canned food drives at their schools.
We host hundreds of volunteers each year who transport rescued food and prepare and serve meals to our guests. Each soup kitchen shift requires 10-15 volunteers, giving people from all walks of life an opportunity to truly connect with their neighbors.
In 2021, we served 160,076 meals using 228,972 pounds of rescued or donated food and 11,640 volunteer hours.
