SOCIAL WORK

SOCIAL WORK

CONNECTION

Our Daily Bread guests live well below the federal poverty levels, with 70% living unhoused, and of these, 30% are staying in shelter, and 40% are living in places not fit for human habitation (camps, cars, etc.). As such, we meet many people who have needs beyond what a hot meal can fix.

Our social services staff help guests work toward a more secure existence, assisting them with navigating the social service system for support with vital needs. These include finding shelter, food resources like SNAP, clothing, job-readiness training, various healthcare needs, and case management.

When possible, we provide connections to rent and utility assistance to help people remain in housing. We also facilitate guests acquiring what they need in order to find and maintain employment, like birth certificates, state IDs, bus fare, background checks, or uniforms.

SUPPORT

Additionally, we are proud to bring other resources to our dining room by inviting outside agencies to set up a table and offer their services on a weekly schedule.

These organizations provide guests with harm reduction supplies and hygiene items; connect guests with recovery services, peer support, and drug treatment centers; help guests apply for Medicaid and SNAP benefits, and more.

We are glad to work with others who care about the wellbeing of Our Daily Bread guests and want to provide them with support and assistance.

2025 Warming Drive

We serve over 500 cups of coffee each day, and we’re out of cream and sugar. Having a hot cup of coffee as temperatures drop, especially after a night sleeping outside, is a huge help for our guests who may struggle to keep warm in the colder months.
