3 second grade students from Woodford Paideia Elementary School in Kennedy Heights proudly hold Veteran’s Day hygiene bags.
Today we are grateful for our long-time volunteer Jane Ackerson who led a veteran’s project with second grade students from Woodford Paideia Elementary School in Kennedy Heights. They made 50 hygiene packages for Our Daily Bread guests that served in the U.S. Military. According to Jane “We wanted to show our respect and admiration for veterans. The second graders wrote letters to the veterans thanking them for their service to our country, and the school conducted a school-wide drive to collect hygiene items from the students and staff. They received enough to put together 50 bags. Each bag included a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, soap, razors and new winter socks. The children loved bringing in the items, putting together the bags, and learned a valuable lesson about service.”
All 50 bags were given out during lunch service today to our veterans in need. Thanks Jane and Woodford Paideia!
